Houston, take my heart
tear it all apart
was that the plan, from the start?
Delta, in Louisiana haze
gonna find a way
to put of the pain
if i never see her again you know what I'm gonna say
LA take me away
Carolina, driving through the night
down ninety five
I can feel her hand, in mine
Georgia, I remember how she sang
you're on my mind
the whole night through
if i never see her again you know what I'm gonna say
New York, I'm going away
Galvez, can we keep this day
don't let this memory
burn away
Seventeen hundred miles
gonna keep my mind
in denial
So Houston, ready or not
gonna tear my heart
all apart
if I never see her again you know what I'm gonna say
Texas, giver her your best

The days are getting longer, winter's almost over
I still can remember the sweet sounds of the summer
and how the sun early rises, through the windows through my eyelids-
in a world of no motivation, still everyday I'm trying:
to put my heart back on the shelf and be better to myself,
lend a helping hand to anyone I can.
I'm gonna call all my old friends, tell them how I miss them
that I won't forget them, they're with me to the end.
I'm gonna be easier, gonna be easier
on myself and on everyone else.
I sit and listen to the water, try to remember,
the blue of her eyes, I just play and rewind.
I got my mind on tomorrow, today I can hardly follow-
if I can only just slow, get my dome piece straightened out-
I'm putting my heart back on the shelf, gonna be better to myself,
lend a helping hand and always understand.
I'm gonna call all my old friends, tell them how I miss them
that I won't forget them, they're with me to the end.
I'm gonna be easier, gonna be easier
on myself and on everyone else.
Now the days are getting shorter, summer's almost over
I still can remember, the spark of the fire.
And the ashes that remain, will never be named
I know I'll get out out of my own way, one of these days-
I'm gonna be easier, gonna be easier
on myself and on everyone else.

Candy Mango

The foreign sounds of grackles, in the bare Houston trees-
new sandals on your feet,
and you rest your head on me.
Alligator swamps in the hazy morning sun
even in some silence-
I can still read your thumbs.
I can try the hard way
you never mind the hard way, do you?
Alabama sunrise and a Graham Nash tune-
you could have rested your eyes
but with me you watched the hues.
You're feeding me an orange, with my hands up on the wheel-
I can get lost in the sight
of you tossing out the peel.
I can try the hard way
you never mind the hard way, do you?
The bell chandeliers and the way you've done your hair-
what can I do,
to keep you right here?
Apocalyptic black ocean, the ferry motor hums
maybe we are better off
to live a short, hard love.
I can try the hard way
you never mind the hard way, do you?
Your candy mango lips and the night you asked me to dance
there is nothing about you
that I will ever forget..
